RMA of Philadelphia and sister practice RMA of Pennsylvania joined dozens of regional infertility leaders in Philadelphia’s most historic neighborhood late last month for the 6th annual Jefferson Infertility Counseling Conference.

RMA had a big presence at the conference, which explores the psychological, legal and ethical issues surrounding fertility care. Members of the RMA team handed out materials on fertility treatments like Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) from the RMA booth, and RMA of Philadelphia’s Dr. William Schlaff moderated a session on the latest innovations in fertility care.

Dr. Schlaff, who also serves as the Department Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University, focused on RMA’s next generation embryo testing platform called NexCCS, which allows geneticists to test the makeup of embryos prior to implantation to maximize the chances of a successful pregnancy and birth. Dr. Schlaff also touched on the importance of providing highly-personalized, individualized care to patients needing a little bit of help to conceive.

Other speakers touched on the legal landscape around gestational surrogacy, the value of offering mental health support to those struggling with infertility and mitigating risk with in practices.
