Donna R. Session, MD is the Chief Reproductive Endocrinologist and Medical Director at Wilmington Fertility Center. She specializes in all aspects of fertility treatment and family building care. Dr. Session received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, completed her internship and residency at Winthrop University Hospital, and a fellowship at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons. While at Columbia, Dr. Session spent three years as a Sloane Scholar. Prior to joining Wilmington Fertility Center, she was the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and an Associate Professor of OB/GYN at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Session’s clinical accomplishments include the integration of sonohysterography, ultrasound-guided uterine surgery, and three-dimensional ultrasound imaging into the practice of reproductive medicine. She is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and Infertility, and is a senior member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. As a Sloane Scholar, she studied a mouse homolog of a Y chromosome gene deleted under a K11 physician-scientist award. A passionate researcher, Dr. Session has participated in numerous clinical and science-based projects, including how genes are involved in the regulation of the cell cycle in the reproductive tract. At Emory, she developed a collaborative working relationship with the CDC, performing IVF outcome research utilizing the NASS IVF database. Her most recent research has focused on improving patient communication, supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
