“Fertility treatment is often challenging, and each patient's journey is unique. In addition to providing the absolute best medical care possible, it’s extremely important to me that my patients feel comfortable, heard, and supported throughout the entire process – and that I am there with them every step of the way.”
Our providers are people too
Dr. Alice Shapiro is a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist who believes in patient-centric care, which means putting the patient’s needs first, above all else.
“Taking the time to really listen and get to know my patients is critical in establishing trust and forming a bond,” she said. “Fertility treatment is often challenging, and each patient's journey is unique. In addition to providing the absolute best medical care possible, it’s extremely important to me that my patients feel comfortable, heard, and supported throughout the entire process – and that I am there with them every step of the way.”
Dr. Shapiro sees her role as partnering with patients to create the families they want on their own terms. "I love working closely with my patients to achieve their specific goals, whether that is building a family, preserving their fertility, or just planning for the future," she said.
Dr. Shapiro’s dedication to her patients, combined with more than a decade of training and medical practice, is what drives every decision she makes. For her, putting patients first meant finding a medical practice that aligned with her values, and chose RMA because of its focus on research and patient care.
"It was really important to me to be at an organization that prioritizes the patient. Going through a fertility treatment is already so challenging, and RMA does everything they can to make things as easy and streamlined for the patient as possible,” she said. “ There is also a lot of science that goes into the art of helping my patients achieve their fertility goals and RMA is a leader in research in our field. I am thrilled to be able to deliver high-quality, customized treatment programs for my patients at RMA."
Dr. Shapiro received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara (USCB); attended medical school at Tel Aviv University – Sackler School of Medicine; did her OB-GYN residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School; and completed her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has been invited to speak and present her research throughout the United States.
