Couple With Unexplained Infertility Finds Success at RMA SoCal

When RMA SoCal first opened its doors in June of 2018 in West Los Angeles, Chanelle and her husband Brian made the decision to come in for a consultation. After one year of trying to conceive on their own, three failed intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles, and a diagnosis for unexplained infertility, the couple knew it was time to see a fertility specialist who could offer them a little bit of hope.

Why RMA

Chanelle, who was 29 years old at the time, researched several fertility clinics in the Los Angeles area, and ultimately decided that RMA was the right fit for her. With success rates above the national average throughout the RMA Network, the national group of U.S. clinics to which RMA SoCal belongs, the couple knew they would be in good hands. RMA SoCal’s flexible hours also made work-life balance much more manageable once the couple decided to seek care. As a busy lawyer on the go, it was important for Chanelle to be able to come in early for her morning monitoring, so she never had to miss a court hearing.

The warm staff at RMA SoCal also made the couple feel most comfortable with their care.

“Everyone was so warm and comforting, from the receptionist, to the phlebotomist, to our doctor. We really trusted the entire team,” Chanelle said.

The Treatment

At RMA, Chanelle underwent a cycle of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening (PGS). After discussing her medical history and potential outcomes with their doctor, the couple felt confident that testing their embryos and transferring a single euploid, or normal, embryo was the best option for them.

After the egg retrieval, the couple ended up with six euploid embryos and decided to transfer the best one without knowing the sex. Two months later, in August of 2018, Chanelle came in for her Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET).

“I was so excited the day of my transfer,” she remembered. “I was a little nervous, too, but mostly I felt confident that this was going to work.”

The Good News

Prior to her transfer, Chanelle made a deal with RMA SoCal’s Dr. Katherine Green about delivering her results.

“If its bad news, email me,” Chanelle said. “If it’s good news, call me.”

When she saw Dr. Green calling, Chanelle knew exactly what that meant. She was pregnant!

“It was probably one of the best days of my life,” Chanelle said as she recalled the day.

Life Today

Now, Chanelle and Brian are parents to a beautiful, happy, smiley 6.5-month-old Evie, a baby girl. And with 5 more euploid embryos stored at RMA SoCal, the couple “can’t wait to come back for another transfer.”

Their advice to other hopeful parents?

“Trust in the process, stay positive, and take it one day at a time.”

She adds: “Make sure you choose a fertility specialist that you trust and that makes you feel comfortable. I would 100% do it all again. I had a great experience at RMA.”
