Saline Sonogram

A Saline Infusion Sonogram (also known as a sonohysterogram) is a 15-minute office procedure performed to evaluate the inside of the uterus. The uterus is typically closed on itself, the two sides folding together like the covers of a book. Therefore routine pelvic ultrasound is often unable to see abnormalities inside the uterine cavity. This is one of several screening tools doctors use to rule out any conditions prior to starting fertility treatment.
