Fertility nurse practitioner Melissa Peluso earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University. She is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and earned an Allied Health Professionals Award from the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society.
Melissa began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery, Recovery, & Postpartum (LDRP) unit at CentraState Medical Center before working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
She was excited to later join the RMA team in 2017, impressed by RMA’s position as a leader in fertility research as well as by its commitment to delivering the latest in evidence-based care. In fact, her experience caring for patients at RMA motivated her to pursue additional education, and she went on to earn her nurse practitioner degree to become an infertility specialist. Her new line of work continues to inspire her every day. “One of the best things about this job is helping patients complete their dream of having a family.”
A friend’s experience with pregnancy loss also gave Melissa even more empathy and compassion for patients walking through their own fertility journey: “The untold story of infertility is how much goes into the process and how it affects the couples going through it.” She understands the often-unseen challenges prospective parents can face, and she is committed to connecting with each patient individually to offer care, comfort, and emotional support.
While she describes herself as “ambitious and driven,” Melissa balances that energy with quality time with her family. She also loves going to the beach, trying new restaurants, and sinking into a good book, and a trip to Italy is on her to-do list.
“What inspires me the most about this specialty is the innovative research being done in this ever-expanding field. There are always new research studies coming out or being conducted looking at new methods of treatment for infertility and in vitro fertilization.”
